While we all know construction has slowed early 2020, there is expected to be only a 10% decline in total construction across the state. With many commercial businesses being closed for months and many others expected to close, the commercial market seems grim in many consumers’ eyes.

With that said, there are still many projects in the process of being completed, such as the multi-million dollar residential buildings being built downtown. The residential market is booming, while the commercial market is seeing a slow down. Who will be the top dogs in 2020 and beyond?

As you can see from the chart below, there is an increase in residential work with a decrease in commercial work.

Our prediction is that the commercial market will show gains in 2021 with the new ways that buildings will begin to be built. Properties will be torn down and replaced with new architecture that meets the demands of today’s consumers.

The residential market will continue to grow as new home building has virtually come to a stand still.
